#23 Is this really the end? Or just the beginning ...

YES,
I've done it!
- I've reached my final goal just as Helen Reddy did many many years ago!

I am thrilled that I have managed to complete the program . I actually did the program at home as time was not readily available at work and also my 'cursing & swearing' was more suited to the home environment once the children were in bed!. I did confer with colleagues at work though so a "BIG THANK-YOU" to all those who offered words of advice and encouragement - you know who you are!

I found the course gave me the opportunity to learn about and access information and internet tools which I would otherwise never have known existed! Youtube was a special highlight for me as I had great fun rediscovering my childhood favourites!

My family are also thrilled that I have finished as this means 'Mum' will no longer be 'hogging' the computer!

Hopefully it is just the beginning for me at delving into the 'unknown'.

PS. I would also like to say thank-you to the coordinators of Library2.0.

It would have been a massive job for you and all your hard work is greatly appreciated.

#22 Audiobooks (or "The end is in sight ")

What a great addition to public libraries - downloadable audiobooks.

Can't say I was impressed by the titles that I came across through the links in the discovery exercise - a few too many classics for my liking. But the potential is there and I think library patrons would greatly enjoy access to such services through their local library.

I must say, I did enjoy listening to the "Tale of Peter Rabbit"
- once a Children's Librarian, always a Children's Librarian!

#21 Podcasts, Smodcasts!

Well, podcasts are my answer to what will I learn next after Learning2.0!
Cooking
- it's time to go back to basics.
I have added a feed from
to my Bloglines account.
Who knows what other podcasts I'll find along the way?

#20 You too can YouTube

WHAT FUN!

Managed to find lots of childhood memories and managed to waste lots of time doing so!
Some further "inspiration" to get me to the end of Learning2.0!

#19 Discovering Web 2.0 tools

My past studies in geography, drew me to the
MAPPING CATEGORY
where I investigated the following 2 sites

The results of my investigations can be seen in the side panel of this blog!

#18 Web-based Apps: They're not just for desktops

Time to create another account - this time with

Zoho Writer.!

Managed to post the following document (sentence) in my blog from Zoho Writer:

The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dogundecided

(Due to time constraints the document was kept short and sharp!)

#17 Playing around with PBWiki

Been there, done that!
No worries about this excercise - interesting and easy!
I always did enjoy playing in the sandbox!

#16 So what’s in a wiki?

Wikis remind me of the WMRLC shared drive!

Of course there are a few differences - immense differences maybe, but the concept is the same -many people can have access and input to the item. Heaps more efficient than emailing between colleagues and having access to it, wherever internet is available, is sooooooo handy!

I can see great potential for wikis in Youth Services - enabling greater sharing and collaboratively planning of ideas, activities and resources Victoria wide, Australia wide and even World wide!

#15 On Library 2.0 & Web 2.0 ...

It certainly is an exciting era for Libraries.

The suggested readings outlined some interesting points in relation to Library 2.0 and Web 2.0. There is, and always has been, the need to respond to what the user wants and to educate the user to access resources, but this is even more so today, as their needs become more diversified and technologically advanced. It is even more important now for Libraries to remain abreast of the times and to be one-step ahead of the user? Learning2.0 has definitely been a prompt and an aid, for me, in better understanding the potential of the internet.

I can still remember the excitement when the internet was first introduced to Libraries and the large amount of information we suddenly had at our fingertips - it was awesome! For some though it was frightening so let's not forget the "technologically-challenged", and remember to cater for these users by continuing to provide face-to-face contact and assistance. This will ensure that everyone benefits from Web 2.0.

#14 Getting not-so-technical with Technorati

I successfully claimed my blog and it is now officially listed on Technorati.
Technorati has not been a 'highlight' for me
but it would prove popular for those with a keen interest in other people's blogs.

#13 Tagging, folksonomies & social bookmarking in Del.icio.us

Definitely an efficient and easy way to create bookmarks that can be accessed from anywhere . A very useful tool for me as I work at a number of different locations.
Also a great way of finding new websites on a particular topic.
I never cease to be amazed at what I will learn next, in this online learning program.

#12 Roll your own search engine with Rollyo

I think I will find this useful. When I'm stuck for ideas I tend to search a series of websites for inspiration so this enables me to browse all at once - definite timesaver for me!

#11 All about LibraryThing

Another account has been created with another usename and password!
LibraryThing has arrived!
I've added a widget to display titles in my catalog
and installed a LT search box on my blog.
I do believe I'm getting there!
